While most of Europe celebrates Victory in Europe Day on 8 May, the Netherlands celebrates its Bevrijdingsdag (Liberation Day) on 5 May.
Bevrijdingsdag commemorates the surrender of the German army and the liberation of The Netherlands on 5 May 1945.
