Gaugin, whos fulls name was Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin, lived in France from 7 June 1848 – 8 May 1903. He worked as a painter, print-maker, sculptor and writer. Gaugin was a post-impressionist artist whose work was never really appreciated until after his death. Critics note his experimental use of colors and synthetist style and an important figure in the Symbolist movement.
Love him or hate him, it's a good thing that he made beautiful paintings of women because he certainly was not a diplomat!
